We are a small nonprofit organization new to the community. We believe that every woman should be free to live her life without living in fear. We believe that our children should not have to be subjected to seeing their mother being abused.

One of my favorite quotes is by Ms. Alice Walker, The Color Purple. “I think it pisses God off if you walk by the color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it. People think pleasing God is all God cares about. But any fool living in the world can see it always trying to please us back.” (Alice Walker)

When the unexpected happens, how do you start to deal with it?
Survival to me changes just about every second of every day. I remember growing up I would wonder why my life couldn't be like the soap opera stories, you know how the scenes go from one story to another example Jack and Jill, Victor and Nikki...... This way when the scene changed, I could go somewhere else, like my life wasn't my own even as a kid. Does anyone know what or how feels like? For me survival is a loaded question, which brings about a multitude of responses!
